Role Description

This position is essential for the successful establishment of Great British Energy. It is part of the Strategic Engagement, Correspondence, and Briefing team within the Great British Energy Programme, which is focused on developing the necessary policies, legislation, and frameworks for a new publicly-owned energy company.

The Hub team serves as a central unit that integrates the Programme's efforts. The primary goal of the Hub is to deliver high-quality services to Ministers and officials. Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a comprehensive and precise communications narrative and core briefing materials.
  • Planning and executing Ministerial engagements, public events, and announcements related to Great British Energy.
  • Producing timely and accurate responses to Ministerial briefing requests, Parliamentary inquiries, and correspondence.

As the leader of this team, you will work to establish it as a premier hub that meets deadlines, produces exceptional documents, and drives the engagement strategy for the Directorate, including coordinating key announcements and managing stakeholder interactions.

We are particularly interested in candidates from non-London locations, especially those based in Scotland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the strategic engagement plan for the establishment of Great British Energy, collaborating closely with private offices, policy teams, external partners, and senior leaders.
  • Coordinate with central communications to align our engagement efforts with the Department’s senior engagement initiatives.
  • Identify key stakeholders and their roles in the Great British Energy setup, recognizing opportunities for communication and consultation, including those involving Ministers.
  • Provide specialized input to other Great British Energy teams, particularly the policy team, as they shape the delivery focus.
  • Manage a small team that supports these initiatives.
