Job description

This role is critical to the success of the Great British Energy set-up. It sits within the Great British Energy Programme�s Strategic Engagement, Correspondence, and Briefing team. The Great British Energy Programme is a new, exciting and fast-paced team that is developing the policy, legislation and institutional architecture to establish Great British Energy � a new publicly-owned energy company that was a centrepiece of the Labour manifesto.

The �Hub� team is a key central team binding together the work of the Programme. The key objective of the Hub is to provide a quality service to Ministers and Official. This involves:

Proactively maintaining an authoritative and accurate comms narrative and core brief.Playing a key role in planning and delivering of Ministerial engagement, and key public events and announcements on Great British Energy.Producing timely and accurate responses to Ministerial briefing requests, Parliamentary business, and correspondence.

You would lead this team to continue to establish it as a first-in-class hub that meets deadlines, produces high quality documents, but also leads the engagement strategy for the Directorate, including leading on the coordination of key announcements, and structuring our stakeholder engagement.

We are seeking candidates from non-London locations and Scottish offices in particular.

Key responsibilities

The post-holder will lead and shape the strategic engagement plan for the set-up of GBE, working closely with private offices, policy teams, external partners and senior leaders in the new organisation.Work with central comms to align our engagement with the wider Department�s senior engagement work.Identify key stakeholders and their potential role in GBE set-up, identifying opportunities for communication and consultation as appropriate, including where that involves Ministers.Provide specialist input into the work of other GBE teams, and in particular the policy team as they develop the work to shape GBE�s delivery focus.Provide line management to a small team supporting this work.

Skills and experience

We are interested in applicants who can demonstrate the following:

Experience of leadership in high profile stakeholder engagement roles.Good wider knowledge of the UK energy generation sector.Ability to develop collaborative relationships and communicate with internal/external stakeholders.People management skills.Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Alongside your salary of �52,985, Department for Energy Security & Net Zero contributes �14,305 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

Office attendance

The Department operates a discretionary hybrid working policy, which provides for a combination of working hours from your place of work and from your home in the UK.
