Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Early Learning team at North Lanarkshire Council. As Head of Centre, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality early years services, ensuring that our staff have the necessary skills and competencies to provide exceptional care and education to children aged 2-5 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of early years practitioners, providing guidance and support to ensure the highest standards of practice.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote continuous professional development, ensuring that staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver excellent services.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure that our early years services are aligned with the council's transformational change programme, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Collaborate with external partners to ensure that our services are responsive to the needs of children and families, and that we are providing the best possible outcomes.
  • Ensure that all staff are aware of and adhere to the council's policies and procedures, including those related to child protection and safeguarding.

Requirements:

  • BA in Childhood Practice or equivalent (recognised for Managers Registration – SSSC)
  • Extensive experience in a managerial and leadership role, with a proven track record of leading early years practitioners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development, with a desire to stay up-to-date with best practice in early years education and care.
