Business Administration Modern Apprenticeship

Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, United Kingdom Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service Full time

Job Overview

About the Position:

Are you eager to embark on a career in the criminal justice field? This role presents a unique opportunity for permanent employment through a Modern Apprenticeship in an administrative capacity. It is an ideal entry point for individuals who have recently completed their education, are contemplating their first career move, or are seeking a transition into business administration.

During the initial 18-20 months, you will work towards obtaining your SVQ in Business Administration Level 3 (SCQF Level 6) along with an industry-specific enhancement qualification. You will have the chance to collaborate with various teams throughout the organization, working from one of our offices, with some flexibility for remote work. The team sizes will vary, allowing you to engage with both new and seasoned colleagues across all levels, from administrative staff to Senior Managers.

As an administrator, you will be known as a Fiscal Officer, playing a crucial role in facilitating the legal prosecution process in Scotland. Upon joining, you will undergo a comprehensive induction, providing you with an extensive overview of the apprenticeship program, followed by focused training on the specific responsibilities you will undertake in your administrative role. Throughout the two-year period, you will participate in various workshops and training sessions, interacting with assessors and fellow apprentices to enhance your skills and competencies, thereby supporting your progress in meeting the program's objectives. This ongoing education will be complemented by practical on-the-job experience, as agreed upon with your Line Manager.

You will receive support at every phase of your apprenticeship, with regular meetings with your Line Manager to identify relevant opportunities for demonstrating the skills necessary for advancing through your course units. This partnership will involve collaborative sessions with SQA Assessors, where you will present evidence of your accomplishments. Additionally, you will be allocated time away from your desk to focus exclusively on your SVQ or enhancement work, which is expected to amount to one hour per week for the SVQ and additional hours for the enhancement. You may also engage with Skills Development Scotland and the Scottish Qualification Authority as part of their oversight processes.

Additional Information:

This position is permanent, contingent upon successful completion of the Modern Apprenticeship program.

Job Responsibilities

This is a permanent role that requires completion of the Modern Apprenticeship program.

The Modern Apprenticeship entails an 18-20 month work-based training program within the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service. Throughout the program, you will be expected to achieve the minimum SQA Accredited Level 5 Core Skills in Numeracy and ICT. If you have already attained one or both of these through previous education, it will be recognized as prior learning.

These positions are permanent administrative roles, contingent upon successful completion of the MA program.

This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for individuals seeking a dynamic role that will pave the way for a career in the Civil Service.
