Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Surgical Waiting List Administrator to join our administrative team within the Hepatobiliary Department at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. This role is essential in managing surgical waiting lists and ensuring efficient patient flow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administration of inpatient waiting lists, ensuring precision and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Continuously monitor and validate the waiting list for liver surgeries, including both minor and major cancer procedures, striving to meet established Key Performance Indicators.
  • Participate in cancer Patient Tracking List (PTL) meetings, coordinating with cancer services to update surgical dates and proactively manage breach dates.
  • Attend theatre utilization meetings to ensure the theatre schedule is current, facilitating timely patient bookings for surgery and optimizing theatre resources in collaboration with consultants.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong general education, including GCSEs in English and Maths.
  • Business Administration NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in an administrative capacity.
  • Proven experience in customer service and public interaction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with IT systems.
