About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Curriculum Leader to join our team at Newcastle College. As a key member of our curriculum team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our students and contributing to the success of our institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development and Leadership
    • Support the Head of Curriculum in developing and implementing curriculum plans that align with College key performance indicators.
    • Lead the management of curriculum areas, ensuring high levels of performance and quality provision.
  • Line Management and Performance Monitoring
    • Manage direct reports, including programme leaders, lecturers, instructors, and technicians, to ensure effective communication and high-quality provision.
    • Monitor provision against key performance indicators and benchmarks, implementing improvement plans where necessary.
  • Quality Enhancement and Assurance
    • Liaise with the central Quality unit to ensure effective quality enhancement and self-assessment processes.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance procedures.
  • Recruitment and Staff Management
    • Contribute to HR processes, including recruitment and performance management of staff.
    • Support the implementation of staff development and training programs.
  • Deputy Head of Curriculum
    • Deputise for the Head of Curriculum as required.
    • Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the curriculum area.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Apprenticeship Management
    • Manage Digital Apprenticeships, including degree apprenticeships, to ensure high levels of performance and quality provision.
    • Maintain regular contact with employers to ensure effective partnerships and high levels of satisfaction.
  • System Implementation and Compliance
    • Support the implementation and embedding of integrated systems to support business processes for apprenticeship delivery.
    • Ensure full compliance with College policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Qualifications and Experience
    • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a related subject area.
    • Qualified teacher status.
    • Evidence of relevant updating/CPD.
    • Management qualification.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Experience of effective people and performance management.
    • Experience of change management and implementing new initiatives.
    • Experience of building relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
    • Experience of deploying learning technologies and tracking processes.
