About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Curriculum Leader to join our team at Newcastle College. As a key member of our curriculum team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our students and contributing to the success of our institution.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Curriculum Development and Leadership
  • Support the Head of Curriculum in the development and implementation of curriculum plans, ensuring alignment with College key performance indicators.
  • Lead the management of direct reports, including programme leaders, lecturers, instructors, and technicians, to ensure high-quality provision and effective communication across the Section.
Quality Assurance and Improvement
  • Monitor provision against key performance indicators and benchmarks, implementing improvement plans where necessary.
  • Support the Head of Curriculum in liaising with the central Quality unit in all aspects of quality enhancement and self-assessment processes.
Staff Management and Development
  • Undertake line management of direct reports, ensuring full and effective communication across the Section.
  • Contribute to HR processes, including recruitment and performance management of staff.
Employer Engagement and Partnerships
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers, removing obstacles, tackling difficulties, and providing intervention where issues may arise.
  • Support the implementation and embedding of integrated systems to support business processes for apprenticeship delivery, from sign up to completion, ensuring full compliance across Newcastle College.
Standard Responsibilities
  • Participate in staff review and performance management processes, identifying and meeting training needs for self and others.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring the health and safety of self and others.
  • Pursue the achievement and integration of equal opportunities throughout all activities.
  • Undertake any other tasks and responsibilities appropriate to the level of this post.
  • Comply with all College policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a related subject area.
  • Qualified teacher status.
  • Evidence of relevant updating/CPD.
  • Management qualification.
  • Experience of effective people and performance management.
  • Experience of change management and implementing new initiatives.
  • Experience of building relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Experience of deploying learning technologies, tracking processes, and use of College monitoring systems to support learners to achieve and progress.
  • Experience of curriculum design and innovation, planning, delivering, and assessing.
  • Experience and evidence of improving learner success and progression within education against Ofsted common inspection framework and/or HE Quality Code.
  • Experience in Digital Technologies.
