Job Overview

Oxford Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialty Doctor to join our team. As a key member of our inpatient services, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of patients on our wards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Management: Contribute to ward-rounds, CPA review, discharge planning meetings, and Mental Health Act managers or tribunal hearings under the clinical supervision of dedicated inpatient consultants.
  2. Liaison and Collaboration: Work closely with the Community Mental Health team to ensure coordinated clinical care of patients.
  3. Patient Assessment and Management: Support the assessment and management of patients brought to the Health Based Place of Safety.
  4. Communication and Documentation: Provide timely written correspondence to relevant professionals documenting assessments, ongoing management, progress, and discharge summaries using Trust IT and clinical records system training.
  5. Interagency Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other agencies, liaison with staff from other teams to manage smooth and timely transfer into and out of the unit.
  6. Clinical Governance: Active commitment to delivering the Trust's clinical governance agenda, including audit, quality, patient experience, learning from incidents, patient safety initiatives, and interrogation of data.
  7. Service Development: Contribute to developing and delivering improved clinical services.
  8. Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and record clinical activity data, participate in clinical audit, and contribute to the collection of data as required by the Trust and other relevant agencies.
  9. Cross-Coverage and ECT Administration: Normally cross-cover with specialty doctor and trainees for Ashurst Ward for annual leave, study leave, and brief periods of sickness absence. Occasional cover may be required for Allen, Wintle, and Vaughan Thomas wards. Administer ECT on a rota with other specialty doctors and trainees under exceptional circumstances.
