About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our Older Adult Mental Health Service. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, highly specialist clinical psychology services to older adults with severe and/or complex mental health disorders and/or dementia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychological assessment and intervention for older adults with severe and/or complex mental health difficulties in an inpatient setting.
  • Undertake psychological assessment, including neuropsychological assessment where appropriate.
  • Supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by Clinical/Counselling Psychologists and other clinical members of the team.
  • Work as part of the inpatient team, providing advice and guidance to colleagues, as well as to social care and GPs in planning and implementing care plans for patients with psychological care needs.
  • Provide indirect support to Inpatient staff within the Older Adult Inpatients services.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of local policies and procedures.
  • Exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the Older Adult inpatient wards.
  • Utilize research skills for audit, policy, and service development and research.
Person Specification
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design, and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
  • Knowledge of working with complex patients in time-limited therapies.
Requirements
  • Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling psychology, or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996, as accredited by the British Psychological Society.
  • HCPC registration or BABCP accreditation.
