Mental Health Specialty Doctor Position

Job Details

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join our team as a Specialty Doctor in Mental Health. As a key member of our inpatient services, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of patients on our wards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to ward rounds, including typing contemporaneous clinical notes into electronic patient records, and participate in CPA review, discharge planning meetings, and Mental Health Act managers or tribunal hearings.
  2. Liaise with the Community Mental Health team to ensure coordinated clinical care of patients.
  3. Support the assessment and management of patients brought to the Health Based Place of Safety.
  4. Provide timely written correspondence to relevant professionals documenting assessments, ongoing management, progress, and discharge summaries using Trust IT and clinical records system training will be provided where needed.
  5. Work collaboratively with other agencies, liaison with staff from other teams to manage smooth and timely transfer into and out of the unit.
  6. Active commitment to delivering the Trust's clinical governance agenda, including audit, quality, patient experience, learning from incidents, patient safety initiatives, and interrogation of data.
  7. Contribute to developing and delivering improved clinical services.
  8. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the collection of data as required by the Trust and other relevant agencies.
  9. The post holder will normally cross-cover with specialty doctor and trainees for Ashurst Ward for annual leave, study leave, and brief periods of sickness absence.
  10. Post holder will administer ECT on a rota with the other specialty doctors and trainees under exceptional circumstances.
