Job Overview

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Specialist to join our team. As a Specialist Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing dedicated mental health support to patients in their community.

Main Duties

You will work closely with our multidisciplinary teams to provide triage, assessment, and mental health advice to patients presenting at their GP surgery. Your role will support primary care in offering enhanced support to patients with mental health conditions, facilitating early intervention, supporting recovery, and helping them to live well in their community.

Requirements

  • Current professional registration: Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist
  • Community experience in mental health services for adults or older age adults with severe/significant/enduring mental illness
  • Experience of providing a range of evidence-based interventions to people with a variety of mental health problems and serious mental illness

Person Specification

  • Current professional registration: Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist
  • Independent and supplementary Prescriber

Knowledge

  • Community experience in mental health services for adults and older age adults with severe/significant mental illness
  • Experience of working in primary and secondary mental health services

Skills

  • Experience of providing a range of evidence-based interventions to people with a variety of mental health problems and serious mental illness
  • Specialist knowledge relating to MH needs of young adults age 18-25 and to the needs of those diagnosed with, or with presenting traits of, personality disorder
