Job Overview

Oxford Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mental Health Speciality Doctor to join our team. As a key member of our inpatient mental health service, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of patients on our wards, working closely with our dedicated inpatient consultants and community mental health teams.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to ward rounds, including typing contemporaneous clinical notes into electronic patient records, and participate in CPA review, discharge planning meetings, and Mental Health Act managers or tribunal hearings.
  2. Liaise with the Community Mental Health team to ensure coordinated clinical care of patients.
  3. Support the assessment and management of patients brought to the Health Based Place of Safety.
  4. Provide timely written correspondence to relevant professionals documenting assessments, ongoing management, progress, and discharge summaries using Trust IT and clinical records system training.
  5. Work collaboratively with other agencies, liaison with staff from other teams to manage smooth and timely transfer into and out of the unit.
  6. Active commitment to delivering the Trust's clinical governance agenda, including audit, quality, patient experience, learning from incidents, patient safety initiatives, and interrogation of data.
  7. Contribute to developing and delivering improved clinical services.
  8. Collect and record clinical activity data, and participate in clinical audit with administrative support.
  9. Cross-cover with specialty doctor and trainees for Ashurst Ward for annual leave, study leave, and brief periods of sickness absence.
  10. Administer ECT on a rota with other specialty doctors and trainees under exceptional circumstances, supervised by a consultant.
