Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager of Business Development to spearhead our energy storage sales initiatives across European markets, particularly in the UK and Italy. This role is pivotal in driving predictable and profitable sales outcomes, ensuring that our pricing strategies and cost estimations align with Wärtsilä's objectives, while facilitating smooth project execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive energy storage sales initiatives and identify new business opportunities.
  • Ensure qualitative sales processes and maintain healthy profit margins throughout project execution.
  • Develop and implement effective pricing strategies and precise cost estimations.
  • Lead a diverse group of stakeholders and project sales teams towards achieving sales targets.
  • Utilize Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) data to inform cost estimations and project timelines.
  • Ensure comprehensive understanding of tender requirements within the project sales team and oversee the preparation of high-quality tenders.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and ensure appropriate evaluations are made.
  • Facilitate necessary internal reviews and secure approvals.
  • Adhere to Wärtsilä's contracting policies and negotiate favorable contract terms.
  • Lead contract negotiations and devise winning sales strategies.
  • Manage and nurture key account relationships with customers.
  • Oversee the progress of sales projects and ensure accuracy in CRM data management.
  • Ensure all sales documentation is complete and facilitate deal closure.
  • Ensure seamless transition of sales projects to execution teams.
  • Promote Wärtsilä's purpose and embody our core values.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the utility-scale renewable energy sector, with a strong preference for candidates with battery energy storage expertise.
  • Commitment to safety and promoting a safe working environment.
  • Proven track record as a senior sales leader with experience in managing high-performing cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in negotiating complex sales agreements.
  • Strong understanding of contractual and risk management principles.
  • Exceptional influencing and communication skills, particularly in cross-functional and external stakeholder interactions.
  • Ability to lead by example and foster collaboration across various organizations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the energy storage market, solutions, and future trends.
  • Commercially minded with a structured approach to problem-solving.
  • Outstanding team player with excellent coaching abilities.
  • Results-driven with strong planning and execution skills.
  • Ability to inspire teams towards achieving future objectives.
