About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Sales Engineer to join our dynamic Energy Storage team at Wärtsilä. As a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for driving sales growth and delivering innovative energy storage solutions to customers in the Africa and European Union regions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with the sales team to identify and engage with key customers and accounts, and maintain relationships relative to Energy Storage.
  2. Manage the RFP response process, including determining bidding strategy and partner selection, and working with partners to submit winning responses and draft proposals.
  3. Lead proposal creation for energy storage projects, focusing on technical design and business model development.
  4. Develop high-level and detailed system design drawings, layouts, and schematics, and specify system components and calculate component ratings and quantities.
  5. Interface with vendors to understand product capabilities and determine the best solutions for customer applications.
  6. Utilize value concepts and tools to define the right value solutions for each customer.
  7. Contribute to the development of sales tools and resources for energy storage.
Requirements
  1. BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  2. Minimum three years of experience in the energy storage and renewable energy markets, projects, and products.
  3. Strong understanding of utility generation project development processes.
  4. Experience with industrial control methods and SCADA systems is a plus.
  5. Able to read and understand system schematics, single-line drawings, and layout drawings.
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to create grammatically correct and properly structured proposal documents.
  7. Competent with CAD or equivalent drafting tools.
  8. Understanding of CE, UL, IEEE, IEC, and NEC standards as applicable to the local region.
  9. Knowledgeable in utility systems and interconnection requirements for electric generators.
  10. Passion for innovation, ability to adapt to fast-changing market demands, and willingness to work independently and as a team member.
  11. Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail, multi-tasking, and a strong work ethic.
  12. Energetic and enthusiastic approach.
  13. Ability to travel as required.
