London, Greater London, United Kingdom Ministry of Defence Full time

Position Overview

This position is a job share (3 days per week) and involves managing a team with a focus on Professionally Qualified (PQ) Officers and Trainees within the Army Medical Services (AMS). The role collaborates with a dedicated team of AMS Officers, Soldiers, and Civilian personnel.

Reporting to the Corps Colonel AMS at HQ AMS, this position is tasked with briefing senior leadership, including the Colonel AMS, Head AMS, and Master General AMS, while also liaising across the Defence Medical Services (DMS) profession related to Healthcare and Medical capability (HMOC).

Engagement and recruitment are critical components of this role, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of the AMS's internal dynamics, the DMS deanery, and relevant National Governing Bodies and University programs. This position will also inform Personnel Policy in the Cadet and Bursar domains, as well as engage with Army Recruit and Initial Training Command (ARITC) and Medical Entry Standards, recognizing that many professional entrants may exceed the standard entry age.

A thorough understanding of the application process, Army Officer Selection Boards (AOSB), and the initial training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) is essential. An awareness of the balance between academic/professional study and the recruitment process is highly desirable.

Training in IT and Army recruitment software and communication tools will be provided.

Role Responsibilities

The Professional Healthcare & Regulatory Engagement Officer is pivotal in ensuring the future of the AMS by attracting and developing top-tier Professionally Qualified medical, nursing, and allied health professionals for service within the LAND operating environment.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance is mandatory, as this role involves close interaction with bursars and cadets in educational institutions.

Guiding prospective AMS Officers through the recruitment and extended Phase 1 training pathway requires a specialized skill set. This includes collaboration with the Royal Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, and Veterinary Sciences, and alignment with Army Personnel Policy / ARITC and DMS Policy (Unified Career Management (UCM) Medical) to ensure seamless operations.

Organizational skills are essential to manage Boards in accordance with service policies and align with Career Management, including the Army Personnel Centre (APC) and UCM, while serving as the Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for entry into training pathways that may extend up to 7 years, managed by external providers and the Defence Medical Academy (DMA).
