Position Overview

The Human Resources Operations Manager plays a pivotal role within the Human Resources department and the broader People Directorate, overseeing the delivery of a high-quality, responsive, and all-encompassing human resources service. This role involves providing guidance and support to designated business sectors (clinical divisions and corporate functions) to facilitate the execution of our People Strategy and Divisional Group objectives.

Collaboration with partner organizations is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a Human Resources Operations Manager for specific business sectors, working closely with senior management teams within Divisions to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of business strategies and personnel challenges, ensuring that workforce needs are recognized and addressed promptly.

Act as a catalyst for change, proactively driving enhancements to services.

Enhance the managerial capabilities of line managers by coaching and equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage staff responsibilities effectively.

Influence and shape business strategies while developing HR methodologies that align with operational business goals, organizational structure, and resource planning.

Foster a positive employment relations environment within the Trust, supporting the implementation of a collaborative approach and nurturing strong working relationships with Trade Union representatives and staff organizations.

Actively engage with Divisions to meet financial objectives, including collaborative efforts with the Finance Department.

Undertake various projects as assigned by the Director of People & OD/Deputy Director of People & OD.

HR Operations Managers will undertake specific projects as required and agreed upon, playing a crucial role in enhancing the Trust's performance by realizing the benefits of workforce management, development, and planning.

Promote collaborative working with staff-side colleagues and deliver a proactive, customer-focused service that enhances both service quality and patient experience. Collaborate with senior management teams within the Divisions to develop and implement effective people management practices in conjunction with the wider People & OD Directorate.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Post Graduate HR Qualification with Continuous Professional Development or equivalent experience
  • Chartered Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (MCIPD) or equivalent experience

Knowledge Requirements

Essential

  • Prior experience working within an HR Business Partner model
  • Strong generalist knowledge of the NHS environment
  • Comprehensive understanding of change management, TUPE, performance management, equality & diversity, and redundancy
  • Awareness of national, regional, and local health and social care agendas/priorities
  • Familiarity with employment legislation

Experience Requirements

Essential

  • Significant experience in a senior HR or Organizational Development role within the NHS or a similarly large and dynamic organization
  • Experience managing complex employee relations, recruitment, change management, and performance management
  • Proven track record of providing credible, expert advice and services to managers in a complex environment
