Job Description

Role Overview:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Humanities Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in a supportive environment. This is a full-time position offering a competitive weekly pay rate, with the potential to become permanent based on performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Classroom Learning: Assist teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons by providing academic support to students both individually and in small groups. Help manage the classroom environment to ensure a positive and productive learning experience.
  • One-to-One and Group Interventions: Work with students who may need additional support in understanding complex topics, helping them to develop their critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Resource Preparation: Aid in the preparation and adaptation of teaching materials, ensuring they meet the needs of all learners and enhance their understanding of the subject matter.
  • Encouraging Student Engagement: Foster a passion for Humanities subjects among students by helping them see the relevance and importance of these topics in today's world. Encourage active participation and engagement in lessons and extracurricular activities.
  • Monitoring Progress: Track and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to the development of individual learning plans where necessary.
  • Support with Coursework and Exam Preparation: Assist students in preparing for assessments, including helping with revision strategies and understanding key concepts that will be tested.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A recent Humanities graduate with a strong academic background in subjects such as History, Geography, or Religious Studies.
  • Passionate about education and eager to inspire students to develop a love for Humanities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Proactive, patient, and adaptable, with a genuine interest in supporting students' academic and personal development.
  • Previous experience working with young people, particularly in an educational setting, is advantageous but not essential.
