Position Summary

The Manager of Corporate Strategy for Europe plays a pivotal role within Visa's European Corporate Strategy team, overseeing the strategic development initiatives across the region. This position entails managing key workstreams as part of essential strategic projects, corporate planning, and intelligence gathering. The role will support critical business areas, whether they pertain to functions or regions, to achieve objectives such as revenue growth, formulating new market strategies, or addressing regulatory and competitive challenges. The individual will be expected to operate autonomously within a compact team, depending on project complexity.

Corporate Strategy at Visa

The Corporate Strategy team is tasked with advising Visa's leadership in Europe on significant challenges across the 30+ countries where Visa operates, as well as across various functions including Product, Sales, Merchants and Acquiring, and Technology. Sample projects may involve developing country growth strategies, entering new markets for products or services, multi-year strategic planning, and responding to regulatory changes, alongside Visa's sustainability initiatives. As a result, the team possesses a comprehensive perspective on the company's top priorities.

Our team is small, which fosters a culture of collaboration and flexibility. Each member is encouraged to engage actively in various tasks as needed, promoting a non-hierarchical work environment.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Lead or assist in workstreams focused on Visa's overarching strategy within Europe and its sub-regions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and regional management teams on strategic initiatives, structuring and resolving business challenges to provide recommendations on diverse business matters.
  • Conduct thorough, data-driven quantitative analyses to support strategic recommendations, ensuring alignment with financial and strategic objectives.
  • Effectively communicate insights and recommendations to senior management and other key stakeholders in a clear and impactful manner.
  • Demonstrate a self-starting attitude, team-oriented mindset, and the ability to engage in complex projects involving multiple stakeholders at various levels.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and support the Strategy Team's practice management efforts (e.g., sourcing data, attending industry events, organizing team gatherings, etc.).

Essential Competencies

  • Employ problem-solving methodologies to assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Independently create compelling and concise presentations and reports, effectively communicating complex data and analyses.
  • Facilitate meetings and informational discussions, fostering consensus among cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Exhibit strong Excel proficiency, capable of executing intricate analyses and consistently validating results.
  • Contribute to project structuring, proactively identifying potential issues, and supporting cross-functional collaboration.
  • Develop coaching abilities through informal mentorship and collaborative project work with junior team members.

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing employees to alternate between remote and office settings. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to be in the office 2-3 designated days per week, based on leadership guidance and business requirements.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires 2-4 years of experience, including time spent in strategy consulting or corporate strategy roles.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is required.
  • Experience in the payments sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in a major European language is a plus.
