Team Overview

The 24 Hour London Programme, under the leadership of the Night Czar, is committed to ensuring that all facets of the city's life from 6pm to 6am are effectively organized and supported. We collaborate closely with various stakeholders both within and outside City Hall to foster a better understanding of London's nighttime dynamics through data-driven insights.

Role Overview

The primary objective of this position is to spearhead the scoping, planning, and execution of specific policies and initiatives, which may evolve over time. Current focal points include:

  • Leading the Borough and Stakeholder Engagement initiative
  • Managing the Nightlife Taskforce and Fund
  • Overseeing the Business Friendly Licensing Programme
  • Advancing the Women's Night Safety Charter

This role requires engaging a diverse array of stakeholders across the nighttime sectors, boroughs, law enforcement, and transportation authorities, fostering dialogue that influences policy adjustments to align with the Mayor's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initiate and lead collaborative external groups and networks, managing joint initiatives with partners.
  • Oversee relationships with senior stakeholders, advocating for alignment with the Mayor's goals.
  • Manage key partnerships with boroughs, the nighttime industry, law enforcement, and transportation agencies.
  • Procure and supervise consultants to ensure high-quality deliverables for the 24 Hour London Programme.
  • Design and implement programs, including borough engagement, the Women's Night Safety Charter, and various policy forums.
  • Develop and execute a communications strategy for the 24 Hour London Programme.
  • Prepare comprehensive briefings and reports for the Mayor, advisors, and relevant organizations.
  • Address inquiries from stakeholders regarding the 24 Hour London initiative and related cultural policies.
  • Stay informed about legislative changes and developments impacting the 24 Hour London team.
  • Support management in responding to scrutiny from the Assembly regarding the team's activities.
  • Promote equality of opportunity and advocate for the diverse needs of London's communities.
  • Manage resources, partnerships, and contracts in accordance with organizational policies and ethical standards.
Qualifications

To be eligible for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A strong understanding of the nighttime industries, particularly the music sector, with relevant policy experience.
  • Proven ability to establish relationships with key stakeholders in the nighttime and music sectors.
  • A successful history of developing and executing strategic initiatives within the nighttime domain.
  • Experience in delivering communication strategies and campaigns that support policy and project objectives.
  • Knowledge of relevant policy issues, particularly those affecting nighttime operations, high street regeneration, and cultural industries.
