Judicial and Legal Services Policy

The Legal Services Trade team is seeking a permanent SEO Senior Trade Policy Advisor. This position is open to all qualified candidates who meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the broader Civil Service Jobs advertisement.

Location:

Successful candidates will have the flexibility to be based at various locations.

Salary

New entrants to the Civil Service will start at the minimum of the pay range. Existing civil servants will receive the better of promotion or transfer terms, or the minimum of the pay range.

Role Overview

The Legal Services Trade team plays a pivotal role in enhancing the UK's legal services sector, which significantly contributes to the economy and facilitates global trade. The team is divided into sub-teams focusing on various geographical regions, addressing market access barriers and promoting UK legal services internationally.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Trade Policy Advisor within the Europe team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading initiatives to overcome market access challenges in legal services.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders, including foreign governments and legal professionals.
  • Preparing briefings, submissions, and speeches for senior officials.
  • Developing and executing promotional programs for legal services.
  • Participating in the negotiation of international agreements.

Required Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability in strategic thinking and policy formulation.
  • Proficient in delivering clear, evidence-based briefings to senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent prioritization and decision-making abilities.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with the justice system and legal services sector.
  • Experience in working with the legal services or similar sectors.
  • Interest in international policy and trade.
  • Background in policy development.
