About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Scientist to join our growing Medical Physics Department at Southampton General Hospital. As Deputy Head of Radiation Protection, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective use of ionising and non-ionising radiation within our Trust.

Your Responsibilities

  • Act as Deputy Head of Radiation Protection, providing expert guidance and leadership to the team.
  • Serve as a qualified expert in radiation protection and/or diagnostic radiology physics (RPA, MPE, RWA, or LPA).
  • Coordinate radiation protection training programs for staff across various departments.
  • Line manage a portion of the radiation protection team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Provide specialist expertise, training, and auditing to Trust departments utilizing X-ray, radioactive materials, lasers, and UV systems.
