About the Role
University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Scientist to join our Radiation Protection team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe use of ionising and non-ionising radiation in our hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the safe use of ionising and non-ionising radiation in our hospital, including X-ray, laser, and ultraviolet light equipment.
- Assess the safety requirements of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Carry out performance testing of X-ray and laser equipment, and provide training to staff on radiation safety.
- Work closely with clinical staff to develop services using X-ray, radioactive materials, lasers, and UV systems.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to radiation protection.
Requirements
- Good Honours degree in a relevant subject or equivalent.
- HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist.
- Relevant MSc or equivalent.
- Experience of operating X-ray and laser equipment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in an emotionally distressing clinical environment.
- Ability to use initiative to resolve problems and work autonomously.
