About You

In the role of Merchandiser, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring that inventory is positioned effectively to meet business objectives. Collaborating closely with the buying team, your focus will be on developing a product assortment that aligns with brand identity while achieving financial goals. Your strong analytical capabilities will enable you to adapt to various market conditions and make informed decisions. A passion for data, coupled with excellent communication skills, will be essential as you liaise with both internal teams and external partners. You will report directly to the Head of Merchandising and oversee an Assistant Merchandiser, supported by a Merchandising Assistant for administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

As a Merchandiser, your primary duties will include:

  • Collaborating with Buying, Design, and Product Technology teams to curate seasonal product ranges for the softlines sector.
  • Creating category budgets informed by historical sales data and market trends.
  • Assisting buyers in establishing a tiered product range within a structured pricing framework.
  • Strategically managing seasonal intake and open-to-buy (OTB) levels for optimal performance.
  • Maintaining and updating category WSSIs, providing insights and recommendations to the Head of Merchandising.
  • Supporting direct sourcing initiatives and margin achievement efforts alongside the buying team.
  • Developing and tracking departmental KPIs, including revenue, markdowns, margins, average selling price (ASP), and profitability in conjunction with the Head of Merchandising.
  • Formulating and executing the promotional strategy for the department across the organization.
  • Building and nurturing strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Continuously analyzing sales data and responding proactively to market changes.
  • Ensuring adherence to the critical path across the business each season.
  • Preparing for and participating in weekly trading discussions.
  • Assisting the Head of Merchandising and Merchandising Assistant with logistical planning and inquiries.
  • Collaborating with the partnerships team on range planning and sales analytics for concessions and marketplaces.
  • Mentoring the Assistant Merchandiser to foster their professional growth.

Required Skills and Knowledge

The ideal candidate for the Merchandiser position will possess:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar merchandising capacity.
  • Exceptional numerical and analytical proficiency.
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • A commercial mindset with strategic and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of fostering positive relationships across all organizational levels.

Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring 2 to 3 days in the office.
