About the Role
In the capacity of a Merchandiser, your primary responsibility is to ensure that inventory is positioned appropriately to meet strategic objectives. Collaborating closely with the purchasing team, you will curate a product assortment that aligns with brand identity while achieving financial goals. Your strong analytical capabilities will enable you to adapt to various market conditions effectively. A passion for data, combined with the ability to communicate clearly with both internal teams and external partners, is essential. You will report directly to the Head of Merchandising and oversee an Assistant Merchandiser while receiving support from a Merchandising Assistant.
Key Responsibilities
As a Merchandiser, your essential duties include:
- Collaborating with the Buying, Design, and Product Technology teams to strategize and develop seasonal product lines for the softlines category.
- Creating category budgets informed by historical sales data and market trends.
- Assisting buyers in establishing a tiered product range within a well-defined pricing structure.
- Strategically planning and managing seasonal intake and open-to-buy (OTB) levels for optimal performance.
- Maintaining and updating category WSSI reports, providing insights and recommendations to the Head of Merchandising.
- Supporting the buying team with direct sourcing initiatives and margin enhancement strategies.
- Establishing and monitoring departmental KPIs, including revenue, markdowns, margins, average selling price (ASP), and profitability, in conjunction with the Head of Merchandising.
- Formulating and executing the promotional strategy for the department across the organization.
- Building and nurturing positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Continuously analyzing sales data and making dynamic adjustments as necessary.
- Ensuring adherence to the critical path across the business each season.
- Preparing for and participating in weekly trading discussions.
- Assisting the Head of Merchandising and Merchandising Assistant with logistical planning and inquiries.
- Collaborating with the partnerships team on range planning and sales analytics for concessions and marketplaces.
- Mentoring the Assistant Merchandiser to foster their professional growth.
Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Merchandiser position should possess:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar merchandising role.
- Exceptional numerical and analytical abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- A blend of commercial insight, strategic thinking, and creative problem-solving.
- Outstanding communication skills, capable of cultivating positive relationships across all levels of the organization.
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring 2 to 3 days in the office.
