About the Role

As a key player in the merchandising department, you will be tasked with ensuring that inventory is strategically positioned to meet market demands while achieving key performance indicators. Collaborating closely with the purchasing team, your goal will be to curate a product assortment that aligns with brand identity and financial objectives. Your strong analytical capabilities will enable you to navigate various scenarios effectively, while your passion for data will drive your communication with both internal teams and external partners. You will report directly to the Head of Merchandising and oversee an Assistant Merchandiser along with support from a Merchandise Administrative Assistant.

Core Responsibilities

In your role as a Merchandiser, your primary duties will include:

  • Collaborating with the Buying, Design, and Product Technology teams to develop seasonal product assortments for the softlines category.
  • Creating category budgets by analyzing historical sales data and market trends.
  • Assisting buyers in establishing a tiered product range that adheres to a comprehensive pricing strategy.
  • Strategically planning and managing seasonal intake and open-to-buy (OTB) levels for optimal performance.
  • Maintaining and updating category WSSI reports, providing insights and recommendations to the Head of Merchandising.
  • Supporting the buying team with direct sourcing initiatives and margin enhancement strategies.
  • Establishing and monitoring departmental KPIs, including revenue, markdowns, margins, average selling price, and profitability.
  • Developing and executing the promotional strategy for the department across all channels.
  • Fostering strong working relationships within the organization and with external suppliers.
  • Continuously analyzing sales performance and adapting strategies as necessary.
  • Ensuring adherence to the critical path throughout each season.
  • Participating in weekly trade discussions and providing valuable insights.
  • Assisting the Head of Merchandising and Merchandise Administrative Assistant with logistical planning and inquiries.
  • Collaborating with the partnerships team to provide range planning and sales data for various sales channels.
  • Mentoring and guiding the Assistant Merchandiser to support their professional growth.

Required Skills and Expertise

The ideal candidate for the Merchandiser position will possess:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a merchandising capacity.
  • Exceptional numerical and analytical abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • A well-rounded commercial, strategic, and creative mindset.
  • Outstanding communication skills, capable of building positive relationships across all levels of the organization.

Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring 2 to 3 days in the office.
