Job Summary:

The Commercial Manager will play a critical role in our rapidly growing Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) team and our expansion within the EMEA region. The Commercial Manager will own and lead the RFP & competitive bid processes, the negotiation of contracts with contractors & suppliers, conduct cost analysis, and making strategic product decisions for projects ranging in scope and complexity for assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • RFP Response and Competitive Bid Processes: Own and lead the RFP response and competitive bid processes for projects in EMEA, analyzing commercial and legal aspects of Customer RFPs to develop a competitive submission to continue to grow the execution pipeline.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead the Customer and sub-contractor contract negotiation phase for equipment, services, and EPC contracts by collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Bid Analysis and Modeling: Develop key requirements for RFPs to sub-contractors and evaluate the bid results.
  • Supply Chain Management: Work with supply chain to capture competitive intelligence and generate insights on supply chain and BESS landscape.
  • External Stakeholder Management: Interacts with external parties including Customers, vendors, and potential suppliers.
  • Process Improvement: Actively identify opportunities to improve business processes and support the implementation of such.
  • Contract Management: Ensure the organization's internal contract documents are accurate and well maintained.
  • Project Support: Provide contract support to the Project's team during contract execution.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in either Business, Engineering, Management, Finance, or Economics or related field degree.
  • Commercial Contract Negotiation Experience: Commercial contract negotiation and RFPs management experience for equipment supply in the energy sector.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Proficient at aggregating and understanding and responding to requirements and information as part of the RFP process.
  • Leadership and Teamwork Skills: Proven experience in partnering with internal and external stakeholders to optimize a response and the decision-making process.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and Salesforce.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English in speaking and writing.
  • Other Requirements: Enthusiasm for working with Customers and suppliers, Strong 'intrapreneurial' mindset for process analysis, problem solving and strategy development skills, Ability to take critical decisions in the face of limited or conflicting data and under time pressure, Willingness and ability to travel and work intensively during negotiation periods, Excellent communication skills and confidence with executive level presentations, Demonstrated teamwork skills and proven leadership skills in virtual project teams, Ability to manage multiple complex activities simultaneously, Dedicated to details while keeping the bigger picture in mind, Enthusiasm for working with Customers and suppliers, Excellent communication skills, Desire to learn and grow within the role and organisation.
