Position Overview

As a Clinical Nurse - Safeguarding Expert, you will work in close partnership with our esteemed neurosurgical medical team, embodying the role of a clinical leader. Your commitment to fostering both team growth and your own professional development is vital.

Key Responsibilities

In this capacity, you will:

  • Assist in managing the inpatient caseload for the neurosurgical consultants.
  • Be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring comprehensive care for patients and their families.
  • Oversee the daily operations of patient care, including assessing care needs and developing, implementing, and evaluating care programs.
  • Set high standards by providing specialized care and guidance.
  • Contribute to service development while ensuring alignment with organizational values and effective resource utilization.
Professional Development

This role begins at a Band 6 level, with opportunities to progress to Band 7 upon successful completion of training and competencies. Your working hours will typically be Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM.

Daily Activities

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in ward rounds and consultant reviews.
  • Conducting patient assessments, which may involve telephone consultations.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members and managing administrative tasks.
Training and Growth

As part of your role's development, the organization will provide specialized training, alongside external training opportunities, to enhance your skills and enable you to provide independent care.

  • Provide clinical and leadership support to junior medical teams around the clock.
  • Maintain high standards of care and professional expertise.
  • Offer specialized advice for patients with acute conditions requiring secondary care.
  • Assess and manage patients with complex health issues, making independent referrals as necessary.
  • Educate and counsel patients regarding available treatment options.
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you should possess:

  • Current NMC registration.
  • A Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional education or development in your specialty area.
  • A non-medical prescribing qualification.
  • An understanding of recent advancements in nursing practice.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and safeguarding relevant to practice.
  • Experience in implementing changes to enhance patient care and nursing practices.
