Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Coder to join our team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a Clinical Coder, you will play a critical role in collecting and analyzing data about patient episodes, ensuring accurate and complete coding to meet Trust targets and deadlines.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and prioritize your workload to ensure accurate and complete coding, meeting Trust targets and deadlines.
  • Identify and analyze patterns of errors, notifying your manager and proposing potential solutions.
  • Develop key business relationships within the Clinical Management Group (CMG), establishing yourself as a coding expert and specialist advisor.
  • Meet with senior clinicians to discuss and resolve complex coding discrepancies, ensuring accurate income for the Trust.
  • Manage and resolve complex enquiries, using high-level motivational and negotiating communication skills.
  • Provide advice and support to team members, participating in team events and representing the team when required.

Person Specification
  • Hold a National Certificate for Clinical Qualification (NCCQ).
  • Have 3 years of clinical coding experience within an NHS environment, coding multiple specialties.
  • Have completed a refresher course in the last 3 years.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with staff at all levels.
  • Be able to demonstrate behaviors consistent with the Trust values and behaviors.
