Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Decision Maker to join our team as a Lead Consultant in Internal General Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing senior clinical decision making on a GIM ward designed for patients not appropriate for immediate discharge or transfer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and decision making on the GIM ward, including consultant ward rounds and board rounds.
  • Develop and implement clinical pathways and protocols to ensure effective and efficient care.
  • Supervise and train junior medical staff, including supporting a new CESR programme to develop future GIM consultants.
  • Ensure the provision of good standards of practice and care, adhering to GMC Guidance Duties of a Doctor.
  • Participate in audit and quality improvement initiatives to drive excellence in patient care.
  • Work closely with other specialties, departments, and outside agencies to deliver the objectives of the Clinical Management Group.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that critical clinical incidents are reported in a timely manner.
  • Participate in yearly appraisal and job planning, and undertake Mandatory & Statutory training as determined by the Trust and Clinical Management Group.
  • Deliver undergraduate teaching as a clinical teacher.
Requirements
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Registration with the GMC.
  • Experience in senior clinical decision making and leadership roles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
