We are expanding our established Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) Psychology team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development of our psychological pathways as part of our ongoing mental health transformation initiative. We are currently offering two 0.8wte positions, with flexibility for alternative arrangements. We also welcome applications from band 7 psychologists who are interested in a structured development plan aimed at progressing to an 8a role in the future.
The successful candidates will support the community pathway, potentially in various service areas. Our Psychology department is composed of Trainees, Assistant Psychologists, Clinical Associate Psychologists, and senior Clinical Psychologists, all dedicated to addressing the psychological needs of older adults. Regular clinical discussions, peer support, and exploration of service-related issues are integral to our collaborative environment.
We prioritize continuous professional development, offering departmental CPD discussions and encouraging participation in relevant training opportunities. The Psychology Team engages with all facets of the MHSOP service, including Inpatient Services, Memory Services, and Community Mental Health Teams, providing direct assessment, formulation, and intervention for patients and their caregivers.
Our Trust provides exceptional online and in-person training sessions, along with a robust Research and Development Team that supports involvement in pertinent projects. Regular supervision from senior clinical psychology colleagues is guaranteed, and various well-being initiatives are available for staff engagement.
We maintain strong partnerships with the University of Leicester Clinical Psychology Department, facilitating teaching sessions and trainee placements. Our service is part of a broader network of Clinical Psychologists within the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, offering a wealth of information and support through an online forum.
Main Responsibilities
As a Clinical Psychologist, you will deliver specialized psychological services within the MHSOP framework. This includes working autonomously within professional guidelines and providing direct clinical services, as well as offering psychological care consultations to non-psychologist colleagues. You will adhere to the strategic objectives of MHSOP and comply with the professional standards set by the BPS and Healthcare Professional Council.
