Leicester, Leicester, United Kingdom Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust Full time

Position Overview

We are excited to announce the availability of key psychology roles within our growing psychology department. In alignment with national initiatives aimed at enhancing mental health services, we have established a robust organizational framework with psychologists in pivotal positions, including leadership roles at the directorate level. Our team includes pathway leads specializing in complex trauma, psychosis, and personality disorders, all supported by psychologists across various levels. This structure provides clear career advancement opportunities for psychologists who join us, and we are dedicated to fostering your professional growth.

Our commitment to mental health is reflected in the significant investments outlined in the NHS Long Term Plan, which are guiding the evolution of our mental health services. The Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust Neighbourhood Teams are designed to support working-age adults facing severe mental health challenges. In accordance with national strategies, we are actively implementing substantial enhancements to our services to improve the mental well-being of our community, with a particular focus on expanding psychological support.

The Neighbourhood Team is composed of a multidisciplinary group, including Community Connectors, Peer Support Workers, Health Care Support Workers, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Psychiatric Nurses, and Occupational Therapists. In this collaborative environment, you will have the opportunity to apply and refine a wide range of psychological skills, benefiting from the guidance and supervision of experienced psychologist colleagues who regularly engage in clinical supervision, learning, and service development discussions.

Your role will involve providing clinical contributions to the core mental health team, including consultation, supervision, and direct interventions with service users. You will also oversee and mentor other qualified Clinical/Counselling psychologists, Clinical Associates in Psychology, Clinical Psychologist Trainees, and/or Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners, collaborating to enhance the psychological services available to your community teams. Opportunities for professional development through internal and external training programs will be readily available, supported by annual appraisal and development plans.

We maintain strong connections with the University of Leicester Clinical Psychology Department, facilitating teaching sessions, trainee placements, and contributions to the curriculum development. Our service is part of a network of Clinical Psychologists within the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, encompassing various specialties such as adult mental health, perinatal and maternal mental health, family and youth services, learning disabilities, neuropsychology, health psychology, and a specialized forensic service. This network convenes regularly to share insights and foster collaboration.

As part of our commitment to creating a supportive work environment, we offer several initiatives aimed at enhancing employee well-being and job satisfaction. We are flexible in accommodating full-time, part-time, and varied working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will deliver a highly specialized clinical psychology assessment and therapeutic service to a Community Mental Health Team serving the South Leicester area. This role involves working with patients within the scope of this service and its catchment areas. You will provide guidance and consultation on patients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and, when appropriate, deliver psychological interventions while adhering to professional guidelines and Trust policies.

Active participation in multidisciplinary clinical teams is essential, often taking a leadership role in service delivery. The candidate will utilize their expertise in clinical psychology to assess and treat patients, including those who are legally detained due to mental health issues. The role requires the ability to manage projects independently, with minimal supervision, and direct reporting to senior management.
