Role Summary
In the capacity of a Placements Commissioning Officer, your primary duty will be to facilitate the execution of Placements Commissioning services across Social Care, Special Educational Needs (SEN), and Health sectors in the most effective and economical manner. You will respond to inquiries from Social Care Practitioners to pinpoint suitable placements or care provisions that uphold choice, independence, and financial objectives. This will involve collaborating with providers and assessors to identify appropriate and available services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Commissioning appropriate placements across Social Care, SEN, Health, and Housing sectors, ensuring that package and placement costs are secured within a contractual framework, thereby achieving 'value for money' and maintaining quality standards.
- Reviewing contracts and service level agreements through effective monitoring and compliance systems, liaising with professionals, and conducting monitoring visits and investigations as necessary to ensure that services meet established standards and safeguard vulnerable clients.
- Executing all delegated tasks related to commissioning, contract management, and policy planning as identified, contributing to the realization of strategic commissioning goals set forth by the Commissioning Service.
Candidate Profile
To excel as a Placements Commissioning Officer, you should be dedicated to positively impacting the lives of children and young people, demonstrating the following qualifications:
- A professional understanding of the legal aspects surrounding placements and commissioning activities, exhibiting professionalism in challenging situations.
- An awareness of issues related to children's, education, health, and social care services, along with knowledge of relevant policies from other public bodies concerning Children's and Adults Services.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection as it pertains to social care legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, characterized by openness and persuasiveness, including negotiation and influencing capabilities.
- Strong organizational skills, including time management, creative thinking, problem-solving, multitasking, and the ability to prioritize workloads effectively while collaborating with others to address challenges in a solution-focused manner.
Benefits
We are committed to fostering a supportive environment, providing access to a diverse range of resources, competitive salary, and benefits that facilitate hybrid working. Employees at Achieving for Children can enjoy:
- 29 days of annual leave, increasing to 33 days after two years and 35 days after four years, with an additional day off during your birthday month.
- Tailored induction sessions commencing on your start date.
- Participation in the Local Government salary and pension scheme.
- Flexible working arrangements to promote a healthy work-life balance.
- A comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme.
- A variety of staff benefits and discounts.
- An exceptional learning and development program to support your career progression.
Commitment to Equality and Safeguarding
We actively encourage applications from diverse sections of the community that are currently underrepresented within our teams. Achieving for Children is dedicated to promoting equality and diversity, fostering a culture that values differences, and recognizing the positive contributions of employees from various backgrounds. We are proud to be a Disability Confident employer.
We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, expecting all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
