Role: Social Worker - Looked After Children Team

Compensation: £3000 annual market supplement available

We seek dedicated professionals who are passionate about fostering positive outcomes for children under our care. If you possess a diverse skill set for engaging with children of various ages, this role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact in their lives.

Social workers within the Permanency service are encouraged to engage in meaningful direct work, such as life story projects, which can create lasting positive changes in the lives of young individuals. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed social workers who are driven to enhance the lives of children and can inspire the networks surrounding them to achieve high standards of care and support.

AfC promotes a hybrid working model, with the main office located in Kingston, where you will support children and young people aged 0 to 18.

Key Responsibilities

The Social Worker will serve as a corporate parent and lead professional for our children. It is essential to understand and advocate for the views and wishes of our children and young people, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities include collaborating with other professionals to ensure that children and young people receive appropriate care, education, health services, and any additional support necessary to meet their needs effectively.

The Social Worker will support children living with relatives, friends of foster families, prospective adopters, or those residing in children's homes and semi-independent units. Key duties involve:

  • Conducting regular statutory visits
  • Completing and updating assessments
  • Developing Care Plans
  • Collaborating within a professional network to address the needs of children and young people

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree-level education with the relevant social work qualification
  • A solid understanding of statutory legislation, such as the Children Act
  • Planning skills for assessing and reviewing the needs of children and young people
  • Experience in managing an allocated caseload
  • A commitment to Achieving for Children's vision, mission, and values, supporting children and young people to lead safe, happy, healthy, and successful lives
