Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance Manager

Carbon60 is collaborating with a prominent client to identify a Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance Manager who will play a pivotal role in identifying and executing strategic initiatives. This position involves providing comprehensive guidance and support to Programme Managers and Senior Project Managers in delivering advanced health, safety, and environmental advice. The ideal candidate will oversee and mentor three direct reports, ensuring their daily tasks and long-term goals align with the overarching strategy.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven safety professional with extensive experience across various sectors, including construction, transportation, and engineering.
  • National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent qualification).
  • Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH) status.
  • National Certificate in Fire Safety (or equivalent) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing team to ensure that organizational standards are established, implemented, and embraced within Infrastructure Solutions as necessary.
  • Assess and prioritize the team's site visit agenda by comprehending project complexities and risks while fostering relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate incident investigations collaboratively to identify root causes and disseminate learnings across various functions.
  • Encourage cooperative efforts between Infrastructure Solutions and other departments (e.g., Engineering, Operations) to effectively manage intricate safety challenges.
  • Take the lead in formulating assurance plans for your reports to execute.
  • Design and implement Safety Improvement Plans.
  • Enhance team capabilities through coaching and mentoring.
  • Continuously develop and refine your own competencies in Health, Safety, and Environmental practices.
  • Initiate campaigns that promote the reporting of close calls and incidents within Infrastructure Solutions.
  • Ensure that incidents are documented and accessible, and manage the First Alert process appropriately.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies, such as the Health and Safety Executive, as necessary.
