Position Overview

Reports to: Camp Leader

Employment Type: Seasonal opportunities available during school breaks.

Working Hours: 8am - 6pm on weekdays. Options for full-time or part-time positions. Additional hours may be required on select evenings for special activities, compensated as overtime.

Role Summary

The Ultimate Survival Instructor is responsible for utilizing various resources to provide engaging, structured outdoor activities and workshops for children aged 7 to 14.

Your primary responsibility will be to guide groups through scheduled courses, emphasizing enjoyment, teamwork, and skill enhancement. You will also take on a pastoral role, ensuring the well-being of the children in your care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement activities for children aged 7-14, prioritizing engagement, growth, and enjoyment while collaborating with other staff members.
  • Foster enthusiasm and participation through your passion and energy.
  • Adhere to all camp policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations and safeguarding protocols.
  • Assist in setting up the camp by participating in orientation and dismantling the site at the end of the season.
  • Serve as a group leader, providing support and care for children throughout the week while promoting their welfare.
  • Supervise and interact with children during non-activity times, including sign-in/out periods and meal breaks.
  • Embody the company's commitment to 'Inspiring Children Every Day' and maintain a professional demeanor throughout your employment.
  • Exhibit the necessary energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism throughout the season, acting as a role model for the children.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed, such as cleaning and equipment maintenance.

Essential Qualifications

  • Dynamic and enthusiastic individual with a passion for working with children and facilitating their development through adventurous activities.
  • Strong organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience in outdoor education, particularly in bushcraft, and a background in working with children.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in leading groups of children.
  • Adaptable team player, capable of responding to changing situations and challenges.
  • Seeking a challenging yet rewarding position during school holidays, with opportunities for career advancement in outdoor education, adventure, or childcare.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ideally pursuing or holding a National Governing Body qualification in adventurous activities, such as archery, bushcraft, or mountaineering.
  • Experience in a similar camp environment, working with children aged 7 to 14.
  • Current outdoor or pediatric first aid certification.
