Position Overview
Reporting to: Ultimate Survival Programme Manager
Contract Type: Seasonal employment available during school holidays.
Working Hours: 8am - 6pm on weekdays. Opportunities for full-time or part-time positions. Additional hours may be required for evening activities, compensated as overtime.
Role Summary
The Outdoor Education Facilitator is tasked with the effective execution of our Ultimate Survival programme. This role involves leading a diverse range of bushcraft and outdoor activities while managing a team of instructors, with the aim of inspiring and supporting them in their roles.
Facilitators are responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants, adhering to established policies and procedures, and serving as a primary contact for stakeholders, including parents and school representatives.
As the face of our outdoor programme, facilitators are expected to embody and uphold the company’s values and maintain a high level of professionalism throughout their duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement engaging activities for children aged 7-14, prioritizing participation, skill enhancement, and enjoyment.
- Supervise a selected team of staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and activities.
- Motivate and inspire staff to provide exceptional experiences through energetic and enthusiastic leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and safeguarding protocols, making necessary adjustments to maintain a secure environment.
- Communicate effectively with Head Office regarding updates and any issues that arise.
- Serve as the primary contact for parents, addressing any concerns and providing feedback as needed.
- Collaborate with school representatives to ensure seamless camp operations.
- Oversee administrative tasks, including registration, staff schedules, and daily timetables.
- Coordinate with other programme staff to ensure cohesive site management.
- Address challenges associated with running a dynamic outdoor holiday camp.
- Promote the welfare of all children, ensuring high-quality childcare that meets diverse needs.
- Embody the Ultimate promise of 'Inspiring Children Every Day' and maintain a professional demeanor throughout employment.
- Exhibit high levels of energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism, serving as a role model for both children and staff.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience in outdoor education, particularly in bushcraft, with a strong background in working with children in outdoor settings.
- Proven leadership skills with management experience in outdoor education or holiday camp environments.
- Strong communication abilities, with excellent customer service skills for engaging with parents and school staff.
- Familiarity with Ultimate Survival activities.
- Decisive and capable of making informed judgments swiftly.
- Proactive and adaptable, able to respond to changing situations effectively.
- A candidate seeking a rewarding and enjoyable role during school holidays, with aspirations to advance in childcare, teaching, or coaching fields.
Desirable Qualifications
- Certification in Paediatric First Aid or Outdoor First Aid.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in activities such as canoeing, archery, bushcraft, slacklining, or environmental studies.
