Position Overview
Reports to: Ultimate Survival Programme Manager
Contract Type: Seasonal opportunities available during school holiday periods.
Working Hours: 8am - 6pm on weekdays. Options for full-time or part-time roles. Additional hours may be required on select evenings for special activities, with overtime compensation provided.
Role Summary
The Outdoor Education Facilitator is pivotal in executing our Ultimate Survival programme, which focuses on outdoor education. This role involves leading a team of instructors in delivering engaging bushcraft and outdoor activities, while ensuring a safe and inspiring environment for children.
Facilitators are tasked with the welfare and safety of participants, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures, and serving as a primary contact for stakeholders, including parents and school representatives.
As the face of our outdoor programme, the Outdoor Education Facilitator is expected to embody and promote the core values of our organization, executing their responsibilities with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement activities for children aged 7-14, emphasizing participation, skill enhancement, and enjoyment.
- Supervise a selected team of staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and activities in line with Ultimate Activity standards.
- Motivate and inspire staff to provide exceptional experiences through energetic and enthusiastic leadership.
- Ensure adherence to all camp policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations, and implement new protocols as necessary to maintain a secure environment.
- Communicate with Head Office regarding updates and any issues that arise during operations.
- Serve as the primary contact for parents, addressing concerns and providing feedback throughout the day.
- Collaborate with the Host School to ensure seamless camp operations.
- Oversee administrative tasks, including registration, staff schedules, and daily timetables.
- Work in conjunction with other programme staff to ensure cohesive site management.
- Address challenges associated with managing a dynamic outdoor holiday camp.
- Continuously promote the well-being of children in your care, ensuring high-quality childcare that meets diverse needs.
- Exemplify the Ultimate promise of 'Inspiring Children Every Day' through your conduct and interactions.
- Demonstrate high levels of energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism, serving as a role model for both children and staff.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience in outdoor education, particularly in bushcraft, with significant background working with children in outdoor settings.
- Proven leadership abilities, ideally within outdoor education or holiday camp environments.
- Strong communication skills, with a focus on face-to-face customer service and confidence in engaging with parents and school staff.
- Familiarity with Ultimate Survival activities.
- Effective decision-making skills, with the ability to assess situations and make informed choices.
- Proactive and adaptable, with a commitment to meeting the needs of the camp environment.
- A desire for a rewarding and enjoyable role during school holidays, with aspirations to advance in childcare, teaching, or coaching.
Desirable Qualifications
- Certification in Paediatric First Aid or Outdoor First Aid.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in activities such as canoeing, archery, bushcraft, slacklining, or environmental studies.
