Position Overview
Reporting to: Programme Manager
Contract Type: Seasonal roles available during school holidays.
Working Hours: 8am - 6pm on weekdays. Options for full-time or part-time positions. Additional hours may be required on select evenings for special activities, with overtime compensation.
Role Summary
The Outdoor Education Facilitator is essential for the effective execution of our Outdoor Education initiatives. Leading a team of instructors, they are responsible for delivering engaging bushcraft and outdoor activities while ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for children.
Facilitators oversee the well-being and safety of participants, ensuring compliance with policies and acting as a primary contact for stakeholders, including parents and school representatives.
This role is dynamic and fulfilling, allowing individuals to leverage their passion for the outdoors to create exceptional experiences for children.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement activities for children aged 7-14, emphasizing engagement, skill enhancement, and enjoyment.
- Manage a team of staff to ensure high standards of care and activity delivery.
- Motivate staff to provide quality experiences through energetic and enthusiastic leadership.
- Ensure adherence to all safety and operational protocols by staff and participants, including health and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding updates and any issues that arise.
- Serve as the primary contact for parents, addressing any concerns or inquiries.
- Collaborate with school representatives to facilitate smooth operations.
- Handle administrative tasks, including attendance tracking and staff scheduling.
- Work alongside other program teams to ensure cohesive site management.
- Address challenges that arise in a lively outdoor camp setting.
- Promote the welfare of children, ensuring high-quality childcare that meets diverse needs.
- Embody the company’s commitment to 'Inspiring Children Every Day' through exemplary behavior.
- Exhibit high energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism, serving as a role model for children and staff.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience in outdoor education, particularly in bushcraft, with a strong background in working with children.
- Proven leadership skills, ideally in outdoor education or camp settings.
- Strong communication abilities, with a focus on customer service.
- Familiarity with Ultimate Survival activities.
- Effective decision-making skills, with the ability to assess situations quickly.
- Proactive and adaptable, ready to meet the demands of a dynamic environment.
- Aspiring to develop a career in childcare, education, or coaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Paediatric First Aid or Outdoor First Aid.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in activities such as canoeing, archery, bushcraft, or environmental studies.
