Position Overview
Reports to: Ultimate Survival Programme Manager
Contract Type: Seasonal opportunities available during school holiday periods.
Working Hours: 8am - 6pm on weekdays. Flexible full-time or part-time positions available. Additional hours may be required on select evenings for special activities, with overtime compensation provided.
Role Summary
The Outdoor Education Facilitator is tasked with the effective implementation of our Ultimate Survival programme. This role involves leading a diverse range of outdoor and bushcraft activities while managing a team of instructors, inspiring them to excel in their roles.
Facilitators are accountable for the safety and well-being of all participants, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures, and serving as a primary contact for stakeholders, including parents and school representatives.
As a key representative of our outdoor initiative, the Facilitator is expected to embody and promote the core values of our organization, executing their responsibilities with professionalism and dedication.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct engaging activities for children aged 7-14, emphasizing participation, skill enhancement, and enjoyment.
- Supervise a selected team of staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and activities in line with Ultimate Activity standards.
- Motivate and guide staff to provide exceptional experiences through energetic and enthusiastic leadership.
- Ensure adherence to all safety and operational policies by staff and participants, including implementing necessary procedures for a secure environment.
- Communicate regularly with Head Office regarding updates and any issues that arise.
- Serve as the primary contact for parents, addressing inquiries and concerns throughout the day.
- Collaborate with the Host School to facilitate smooth camp operations.
- Manage administrative tasks, including registration, staff schedules, and daily activity adjustments.
- Coordinate with teams from other programmes to ensure seamless site operations.
- Address any challenges that arise in the dynamic environment of an outdoor holiday camp.
- Promote the welfare of all children, ensuring high-quality childcare that meets diverse needs.
- Exemplify the Ultimate promise of 'Inspiring Children Every Day' through professional conduct.
- Demonstrate high energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism, serving as a role model for both children and staff.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience in outdoor education, particularly in bushcraft, with a strong background in working with children in outdoor settings.
- Proven leadership abilities, ideally within outdoor education or holiday camp environments.
- Strong communication skills, with a focus on face-to-face customer service and confidence in engaging with parents and school staff.
- Familiarity with Ultimate Survival activities.
- Effective decision-making skills, with the ability to assess situations and make informed choices.
- Proactive and adaptable, capable of responding to changing circumstances.
- A desire for a rewarding and enjoyable role during school holidays, with aspirations for career growth in childcare, education, or coaching.
Desirable Qualifications
- Certification in Paediatric First Aid or Outdoor First Aid.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in activities such as canoeing, archery, bushcraft, slacklining, or environmental studies.
