About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vehicle Technician to join our team at East of England Ambulance Service. As a key member of our workshop team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance and repair of our fleet of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair faults in vehicles, making informed decisions on the extent of the work required.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including servicing and preventative maintenance, to ensure vehicles are in good working order.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure that all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, meeting the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Testing (MOT) scheme.
  • Participate in a rota for 24-hour service and repair callouts, responding to breakdowns and providing emergency repairs as needed.
  • Conduct MOT inspections and repairs, ensuring that all vehicles meet the required standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure that all vehicles are properly maintained, including the servicing and repair of special applications, such as cots and stretchers.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work completed, including job cards, service sheets, and parts sheets.
Requirements
  • IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of procedures for mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair, including BTEC/HNC or City and Guilds qualifications.
  • Driving Licence with C1/D1 categories, with significant experience of driving vehicles larger than a family saloon car.
  • Extensive experience working as a vehicle technician, with a focus on diagnosing and repairing a diverse range of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Previous experience in a business vehicle maintenance environment, with a focus on safety practices and techniques.
