Chelmsford, Essex, United Kingdom East of England Ambulance Service Full time

Job Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged to become a vital member of the Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) management team within the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). This pivotal clinical position is accountable for ensuring professional, safe, and effective clinical oversight of service delivery. You will directly lead a team of healthcare professionals situated within and supporting the regional CAS teams, while also being responsible for the supervision and management of the CAS. Your role will involve providing clinical expertise through assessment, guidance, and information dissemination in accordance with established clinical protocols to all CAS and EOC personnel. Candidates should possess a minimum of three years of post-graduation experience and must currently be engaged as a registered Health Care Professional with either the HCPC or equivalent, with a clean disciplinary record.

Primary Responsibilities

In collaboration with colleagues within the EOC, you will ensure that patients receive appropriate care and guidance at the initial point of contact with the Ambulance Service. This will be accomplished through the timely navigation of incidents for remote clinical assessments, working closely with Dispatch to guarantee the effective use of alternative and specialized responders, and, when necessary, ambulance services.

Adhering to established policies, Emergency Standard Operating Procedures (ESOPs), and guidelines, while utilizing decision-support tools as required, you will focus on managing clinical demand within your designated area. This includes supporting individual patient needs while ensuring an efficient response across the geographical region. At times of heightened demand, sound clinical judgment will be essential to prioritize resource allocation and manage risks effectively, maximizing safety for both patients and staff.

The Clinical Coordinator will offer healthcare advice supported by clinical assessment software to facilitate clinical validation and appropriate referrals to other professionals, ensuring optimal outcomes for patients.
