Position Overview
ERT, Inc is on the lookout for talented professionals to contribute to the Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR). We have several openings that cater to a range of educational backgrounds and experience levels. This role focuses on enhancing the system and software engineering processes related to calibration tools and interfaces for satellite sensor payloads and their data products. Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging in system design engineering for the JPSS/GOES-R series along with other Sensor Data Records (SDR).
  • Delivering system engineering expertise for systems that generate products from satellite data.
  • Assisting the government in the formulation of system architectures and interfaces.
  • Facilitating the transition of research into operational phases and establishing essential processes for validation and training.
  • Collaborating with international partners to monitor the quality of instruments and data products.
  • Integrating relevant codes for instrument calibration and validation tasks.
  • Creating and sustaining calibration tools and software, ensuring comprehensive documentation.
  • Supporting the operational calibration of instruments and SDR/L1b products.
  • Conducting research and generating calibration data sets to uphold product quality.
  • Working within Cloud and On-Premises environments, including applications related to AI/ML.
  • Proposing system design concepts and confirming their integration with requirements.
  • Investigating AI/ML applications to enhance satellite products and services.

Essential Qualifications

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering within satellite applications.
  • Proficiency in instrument calibration and validation processes.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing technologies and AI/ML methodologies.

Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, atmospheric science, physical science, computer science, or a related field is required.
