Lead Satellite Applications Scientist

Position Overview: ERT, Inc is in search of experienced professionals to enhance the capabilities of the Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR). We have multiple openings that cater to various educational backgrounds and levels of expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing small teams to ensure effective task execution
- Collaborating on the design and engineering of systems and software
- Creating tools and interfaces for calibration purposes
- Ensuring the quality of satellite instruments and data products
- Engaging with satellite instruments such as JPSS and GOES-R series
- Integrating code for the calibration and validation of instruments
- Conducting software development and managing system operations
- Proposing alternative concepts for system design
Required Skills:
- 6-11 years of relevant experience in satellite applications
- Experience in instrument calibration and validation
- Proficiency in programming languages including FORTRAN, C/C++, Java, Python, IDL, and MatLab
- Familiarity with data formats like netCDF and HDF
- Skills in software configuration and system administration
- Understanding of radiative transfer and/or AI/Machine Learning
Background Check: Candidates must successfully pass a background investigation for facility access.
Educational Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in atmospheric science, physical science, computer science, or a related discipline is required.
