About the Role
ERT is seeking a talented Satellite Sensor Science and Technology Specialist to support the Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR) at NOAA. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of environmental satellite measurements.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with STAR teams and inter-Agency collaborations to develop and maintain instrument and data product quality monitoring systems.
- Manage calibration and validation tasks for instruments like the Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS), Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS), and Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS).
- Develop and improve radiative transfer models to analyze sensor performance and data assimilation.
- Integrate existing and developing codes for instrument calibration, validation, and health status monitoring.
- Perform software development and system administration to ensure instrument and data product quality monitoring packages are working properly.
Requirements
- A minimum of 1 year of applied science, software engineering, and programming experience in satellite-related applications.
- Experience in instrument calibration and validation.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as FORTRAN, C/C++, Java, Python, IDL, or MatLab.
- Knowledge of radiative transfer and/or AI/Machine Learning is a plus.
