In the role of External Communications Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in crafting and executing our external communications strategy specifically for the Airspace and Future Operations programme, aligning with NATS' overarching vision and strategic objectives.

We are seeking candidates for two distinct positions, each focusing on different areas of expertise, based on your experience:
(i) Consultation, Engagement, and Change
(ii) Content and Digital Communications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the PR & Comms Manager and Head of Corporate & Community Affairs to design and implement tailored external communications and engagement strategies that reflect NATS' vision and strategic goals.
  • Address business challenges by developing effective solutions and providing in-house consultancy, aiding subject matter experts in enhancing their communication skills.
  • Create and execute high-quality communications, engagement, and consultation strategies, considering various external factors.
  • Engage proactively with different departments within NATS to ensure that external messaging is coherent and consistently communicated.
  • Utilize creative problem-solving techniques to foster the ongoing development of communication strategies that resonate with external stakeholders.
  • Work alongside the broader Communications team to elevate the importance of communications, ensuring alignment of messaging and sharing of opportunities.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Extensive experience in external communications within a prominent organization.
  • Exceptional communication, writing, and editorial capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of political and economic dynamics, with the ability to deliver impactful communications to a diverse audience.
  • A blend of diplomacy and business insight that extends beyond traditional communications.
  • Capacity to customize solutions for unique business challenges.
  • Personable demeanor with excellent influencing abilities and the skill to navigate resistance.
  • Adept at both strategic and tactical thinking, with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects involving various stakeholders and shifting priorities.
  • Confident networking skills, with an understanding of how to effectively leverage media and industry contacts.
  • Collaborative team player.
