Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom Homes England Full time

Position Overview

As the Lead Business Operations Manager supporting the Chief Property Officer, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the advancement of Housing and Regeneration initiatives across England.

Within the Development division, you will ensure that operations are conducted within budgetary constraints, staffed with appropriate expertise, and organized into effective teams to meet our ambitious business objectives and fulfill the strategic goals outlined in our Strategic Plan.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will encompass a wide array of tasks, including managing personnel, assessing risks, overseeing recruitment, handling communications, and managing financial briefings.

Collaborating closely with the Chief Property Officer, you will manage their agenda, engage with the Senior Leadership Team, and coordinate across the entire division to communicate priorities, initiate new requests, and share critical stakeholder insights that may influence ongoing projects.

You will play a vital role in ensuring that the Development division operates efficiently and adheres to established policies, processes, and governance standards.

Moreover, you will be tasked with coordinating and contributing to the execution of various ongoing transformation projects aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness and supporting the Development Division's contribution to the Agency's mission.

These projects will often span multiple areas, requiring a proactive and collaborative approach across the Division, the Agency, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, and stakeholders within the housing sector.

This position presents a unique opportunity to influence the future of Homes England’s largest delivery division, Development, which comprises over 300 professionals working regionally with a commitment to social responsibility and the imperative to create more housing.

Candidate Profile

The Chief Property Office team’s primary goal is to ensure that the Chief Property Officer and their Senior Leadership Team are equipped and prepared to expedite housing delivery. You should be a confident multitasker, capable of navigating tasks efficiently and planning ahead while innovating our operational methods.

Your background may include experience in business operations, government private offices, or the built environment, and you should be seeking a new challenge.

Accomplishing a mission as ambitious as ours is no small feat. You will need to be resilient and adept at managing senior-level stakeholders, with discussions informed by a strong sense of emotional intelligence and empathy, alongside an understanding of the commercial and operational implications of our work as the Chief Property Office. You will thrive in an innovative, engaging, and enjoyable work environment, possessing strong negotiation and persuasion skills.

Understanding the significance of people management is crucial; you should demonstrate your ability to collaborate effectively with others in a fair and inclusive manner. You will also represent the Head of and Chief Development Officer in various forums, showcasing best practices as a broader leader.
