Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Medical Secretary to join our team. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to our healthcare professionals, ensuring seamless communication and efficient operations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely typing of letters, reports, and patient referrals.
  • Assist the Practice Manager with clerical and administrative duties, including data entry and record-keeping.
  • Support the Practice Manager in meeting Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets, including contacting patients to schedule appointments.
  • Manage appointments, bookings, and admissions as required.
  • Receive and initiate telephone calls, taking messages and handling queries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner.
  • Provide cover for members of the secretarial/reception team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
  • Deal with general enquiries, explain procedures, and make new and follow-up appointments.
  • Use your own judgment and communication skills to ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
  • Enter requests for home visits onto the clinical system, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details.
  • Receive repeat prescription requests.
  • Hand completed repeat prescriptions to patients and check names and addresses.
  • Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment, and issue receipts.
