Medical Secretary

About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Secretary to join our Respiratory Medicine department on a 6-month fixed-term contract. As a Medical Secretary, you will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to our consultants, ensuring the smooth operation of the department.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to consultants, including preparing correspondence, reports, and other documents
- Manage and maintain accurate records, including patient information and departmental data
- Coordinate meetings, appointments, and other events, ensuring efficient use of time and resources
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, patients, and external stakeholders
- Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures
Requirements
- Good general education, including GCSE English and Maths A-C (Level 9-4)
- Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in a clerical environment
- AMSPAR Certificate or equivalent qualification in medical terminology
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience of working as a Medical Secretary, with excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience of working with Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and meet deadlines
