Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Secretary to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a Medical Secretary, you will provide administrative support to a Consultant and Cleft Orthodontist, ensuring the smooth operation of their clinics and theatres.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will possess excellent administrative skills, including accurate typing, minute-taking, and IT skills. They will be responsible for:

  • Booking and rearranging appointments using the trust's systems
  • Typing clinical letters and other communications
  • Supporting the Consultant and Cleft Orthodontist with their busy schedules
  • Providing administrative support to the department, including minute-taking and data entry
  • Working with the trust's IT systems to manage patient records and appointments

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Good general education (Maths and English A-C GCSE 9-4)
  • Business Admin NVQIII or equivalent
  • AMSPAR Certificate
  • Working knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Experience working as a medical secretary
  • Experience of dealing with public/customers
  • Experience of working with Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience of using IT systems
  • Experience of working in a busy environment
