Job Title: Medical Secretary

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Medical Secretary to join our team at Church Road Surgery. As a Medical Secretary, you will provide high-level administrative support to our clinical and management teams, ensuring the smooth operation of our practice.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to our clinical and management teams, including typing of letters, actioning direct requests for reports, and dealing with patient-related documentation.
  • Attend and take minutes at practice, safeguarding, and MDT meetings.
  • Action referrals requested by the clinical team and book appointments with secondary care as required.
  • Scan patient-related documentation and attach scanned documents to patient healthcare records.
  • Manage telephone enquiries and action incoming emails as appropriate.
  • Liaise with PCSE in relation to registration queries.
  • Support all clinical and admin staff with general tasks as requested.

Church Road Surgery is a small, friendly Training Practice based in Aston, Birmingham. We received an overall Good rating from the CQC in December 2022, with all area and service ratings being rated as Good and outstanding in well-led.

Person Specification:

  • Experience of administrative duties in a healthcare setting.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to follow policy and procedure.
  • Personal qualities: polite, confident, flexible, cooperative, motivated, and high levels of integrity and loyalty.
  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
  • Secretarial qualification or experience.
  • IT qualifications in word and excel.
